Basic digital security hygiene
Causes
Despite the ease of taking obvious and easy measures that do not cost much time and/or money, we still see the following 5 causes recurring far too often:
- intrusions due to leaked credentials and absence of MFA
- intrusions due to open digital windows and doors (software vulnerabilities, identity takeover, open ports...)
- insecure devices (laptop, smartphone, tablet, OT devices) on company network
- money transferred to account of cybercriminals due to lack of control on transfers
- clicked on wrong link in haste and urgency
Unprepared
Once it then comes to a cyber incident, we mostly see that companies are unprepared for it:
- who takes the lead?
- what is the roadmap we are going to follow?
- should we respond to the criminals' demands?
- do we know who to contact for which part?
- what should we do with cloud systems?
- have we made provision in our contracts for IT partners to help us within a certain timeframe?
...
After all, insurance is far from a blank cheque. Cyber security is a very broad, sometimes highly technical and therefore complex topic with numerous different angles. So the fact that most companies are not sure where to start is also only normal.
That is why CyberContract guides its clients step by step in this topic. Together, we take the right proactive steps in order to guarantee a well-founded reactive approach.
